Summer is fast-approaching, and that means soaring temperatures, leisurely days at the beach, and road trips (just make sure your air conditioning is ready to work). In an effort to jump-start your road trip agenda for this summer, we’ve researched some of Florida’s best (and easiest) routes.
Here is our list of best Florida road trips:
Florida’s iconic Highway A1A offers scenic views and plenty of places to stop. Start in St. Augustine and head to Flagler Beach. From there you’ll make your way to Melbourne, and then on to Hutchinson Island. Finally, make your way to Palm Beach. Stop along the way to enjoy the stellar cuisine, pristine beaches, and state parks. This one will take you at least a few days one way, if you plan on stopping to enjoy attractions along the way.
Gulfside Highway 19
Start at Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, where you can enjoy the company of exotic wildlife. When you’re finished enjoying the sights and sounds of the State Park, head over to Riverside Crab House for lunch. After that, head north toward Crystal River. This is an easy day trip, once you arrive in Homosassa Springs.
Pensacola Scenic Bluffs Highway.
This is Pensacola’s best-kept secret. This drive can be tackled in a day, and includes an 11-mile stretch with stunning views of Escambia Bay. At Bay Bluffs Park, find the boardwalk which zigzags down 75-feet through an oak forest to the seashore. This is so close to home, it can easily be tacked in a day.
