Mitsubishi recently thrilled fans with the announcement that a “legend” would be returning, leading many to speculate what the automaker might be referring to. Although little is known about the new mystery car, Mitsubishi did release some teaser photos, saying the model would premiere at the Geneva Auto Show in March.
Previewing the next-generation Outlander Sport, the Mitsubishi XR-PHEV Concept has caused quite a stir. According to CNET, the XR-PHEV has been under wraps since we saw it in 2013. Engineers have fine-tuned the model, and are ready to release it come March.
This new model will boast around 400 hp thanks to its hybrid drivetrain. This combined with a V6 and electric motor; the new model will certainly have some kick. Not only that, but the engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, adding up to around 35 highway mpg. That’s pretty impressive, considering it’s a crossover.
The new XR-PHEV is bound to be one of the most popular models on the market thanks to its aggressive crossover design, its AWD capability, and its powerful engine. Plus, as a hybrid it will features the latest “green” technology. What’s not to like?
