The 2016 Paris Motor Show has seen its fair share of reveals recently, including tons of concept models previewing what may come from major automakers in the future. One that particularly stands out is the Mitsubishi Ground Tourer-PHEV (GT-PHEV) concept, showing off Mitsubishi’s next-generation plug-in hybrid system.
The GT-PHEV concept combines the power of a high-capacity battery with three electric motors as well as a hybrid-specific combustion engine. All together, what you get is the hybrid model of the future in the form of an SUV.
This all-wheel drive model has a somewhat similar set-up to that of the upcoming Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, though that vehicle has only one electric motor, not three. Could this mean that a model similar to the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV concept could be on the way soon?
The concept model is said to travel up to 75 miles on electricity alone, marking it as one of the longest-range plug-in hybrid vehicles. Hopefully this means that Mitsubishi will be able to offer similar ranges in fuel-efficient models in the coming years.
