Sadly, Mitsubishi’s famous Lancer Evolution is leaving us. In fact, some consumers were so saddened by it that they competed in an auction to win the very last Lancer EVO that was produced!
The auction occurred on September 15th and it wasn’t only the winner that went home happy. The auction was thrown to help raise money for both Feeding America Riverside & San Bernardino and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.
And no, there was no official physical event or auctioneer. This auction took place where we do most of our bidding… eBay! It’s a bittersweet moment, with money raised to fight hunger and the start of the Lancer Evolution’s farewell parade.
“Not only did we want to pay homage to Lancer Evolution’s historic U.S. run,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president and chief operating officer, MMNA, “but also make a difference in our local community by extending the auction’s reach nationwide. So we bid farewell to a model that has long been the pulse of Mitsubishi, we stand committed to doing our part to help drive out hunger.”
The Lancer EVO, as it’s nicknamed, has always been popular thanks to that classic four-door, sports car style. The Final Edition model has more power than ever with a roaring 303 horsepower engine.
Goodbye, Lancer EVO. We’ll miss you! If you are looking for a great use EVO, we are sure to continue to see them at Pete Moore Mitsubishi!
