Mitsubishi came out with a pretty bold teaser the other day that flaunted “The Return of a Legend” at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. Although they didn’t give many details about the “Legend,” we began to think about what it could be!
We started racking our brains at Pete Moore Mitsubishi to figure out what “legend” that might be, until we realized Mitsubishi had very likely shown it to us before at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show in the form of the GC-PHEV Concept. An appearance in Chicago wouldn’t make it an entirely new reveal, but it would mark the concept’s North American debut, so that counts for something.
The Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept may very well represent a modernized version of the iconic Montero, however, which the Japanese automaker produced for three generations between 1982 and 2006 in the United States. The Montero was a legendary SUV in its own right when it was first released thanks to its body-on-frame construction and rugged four-wheel-drive capabilities.
If that’s what Mitsubishi intends to show us in Chicago, we doubt we’ll have any reason to be disappointed. Either way, we at Pete Moore Mitsubishi are anxiously awaiting to see what the “legend” will be!
